What
software is needed to view my process?
Actually you
can view the process information with many different types of software
that you probably already have on your PC. Since the TOGA™ Gladiator™
utilizes an ODBC database as the interface, the information is easily
viewed by programs such as MS Access, MS Excel, MS Visual Basic, etc.
TOGA™ does sell an HTML tool kit of Java™ applets that can be used to
construct HTML pages, then all you need is a web browser.
How
does the license work?
Each unit is licensed
to the end user. If a unit is resold, the licensing information must be
transferred for the annual support to follow.
Can
the information be viewed remotely?
Yes. With the appropriate
security passes, all information can be viewed from anywhere in the world
that has network assess.
What
kind of security does the system have?
Each Gladiator can
provide three (3) primary levels of security (e.g., operating system,
information server and database). Each of these primary levels may include
multiple sub-levels of control for additional security.
How do I get software
updates?
You will be contacted
by e-mail notifying you of software updates. IF you choose to accept the
updates, then TOGA™ support personnel will coordinate with you to arrange
a time when they can connect to your Gladiator™ box(es) to update the
software.
Can
I have the system send me a page?
Yes. Each Gladiator™
box can be configured with defined events. Each event can have one to
several notification options. These include; sending the information to
a file, a operator/supervisor alarm screen, to a pager, in an e-mail,
to a cell phone, etc. TOGA™ believes that knowledge allows quick response
and that the knowledge starts with a quick notification.

When
I create HTML pages for custom viewing, how and where do I load them for
viewing?
If you are familiar
with the creation of HTML pages and the use of Java™ applets, then you
create them as usual. You can utilize many forms of scripting, ActiveX™
or customized functions to display the information. Once created, them
are transferred or published to the Gladiator™ box, which is a stand-alone
web server, and they are ready for viewing.
How
many addresses can I read on a PLC?
As many as allowed
by the communication protocol. TOGA™ does not limit the number of hardware
memory location (tags) that can be viewed by the Gladiator™ box. In all
cases, the communication protocol defines the accessible tag limit. This
is true of all systems, not just ours. But the difference is that TOGA™
does not charge based on the number of tags you wish to read or write.
Am
I limited on the number of remote users that can view my process information
at a time?
No. The system does
assign remote users a low priority, therefore there information requests
of updates will be completed during system idle times. Each TOGA™ Gladiator™
has the number one priority of communicating with the PLC to controller
that is connected to it. The number two priority is to relay that an other
information to the first level operator and supervisors. All other viewers
are assigned priorities beyond these.
What
do I get for the annual fee?
The annual support
fee covers any software updates or end-user problems. The fee, however,
does not cover customized or site specific programming or interface development.
The support can be reached by contact TOGA™ at 919/850-2151, they can
be reached via e-mail at support@toga.com or by visiting the web site
at www.toga.com. Be sure to have you license number and/or serial number
of the unit on hand.
